This is not huge news but it’s news nonetheless that some might have missed. It seems the next release of CF (after CF2021 which was released in Nov 2020) will be code-named, “Project Athena Fortuna”.
(Update: When I first posted this, I reported it would be Athena, based on the resources I quote below. I learned the next day that they had indeed changed it to Fortuna. For more, including more on what’s to come, see my updated post.)
Read on for where else this has been mentioned and some of what’s been tipped to be coming.
The “Athena” name was mentioned by Adobe CF Product Manager, Rakshith Naresh, in a couple of places. In case you may have missed them:
- First, in his Aug 2020 Adobe blog post on the status of the then pre-release “Project Stratus” (CF2021), he mentioned regarding more enhancements to CFScript (“CFScript 2.0“) that they “will be a part of Project Athena which will be the next major version after Project Stratus.”
- Then he recently spoke on the CF Alive podcast, where he both reiterated the “Project Athena” name and mentioned in passing that among its features would be more improvements regarding REST
Rakshith also mentioned in the podcast that there was a new public roadmap that would be available soon, indicating what else was coming. It was not offered on the show notes for that episode, in checking it today, but if/when it is I hope to update this post. (Instead, watch for any updates to the new post I made the day after this one.
We can expect a LOT more new features in Project Athena (“CF2023”, perhaps?), as each release offers, especially CF2021 which was incredibly feature-rich. For more on that new version, see blog posts from Adobe and from me.
