I am sorry that you did not enjoy the podcast BKBK. I know you and Brad have had disagreements in the past, and I’m sure that didn’t help your appreciation of the podcast.
We spotlight and highlight each and every ColdFusion event that happens, whether its webinars, or conferences, or releases of new updates to engines and tools, we try and make sure everyone knows what is happening, so they can keep up to date for security reasons, and ways to modernize their code. We highlight the best tweets blogs videos and podcasts in the CFML community to ensure people don’t miss those important do or die pieces, as well as keep up on new and upcoming features, modules etc.
We also spotlight a new module from forgebox every week, encouraging developers to get commandbox and use forgebox, 2 ways to modernize their code, as we help the community share and grow, instead of wilting and dying.
VS Code is a modern tool, with lots of great tools to make you more productive and efficient, modernizing your workflow to make you a better CFML Developer, or a Developer in general.
We are including monthly CFML Challenges going forward, thanks for reinforcing our decision to include that section, I think that will be a big improvement.
We don’t have the urgency, do or die, and our forecasting isn’t great, we do give our opinions but not sure who wants those.
Thanks for your feedback, I hope this explanation might give you another reason to check it out, if not, I understand, we can’t please everyone, but we hope this is a positive addition to the ColdFusion community.
Just want to take the opportunity to say thanks for all you do. I enjoy the podcasts and I think it’s a valuable addition to the community. I get something out of every episode i listen too and will take you guys opinions all day long and keep up the good work. Looking forward to the next one.
Thanks again
I expected to learn something new from the podcast. I am disappointed.
The software landscape is evolving rapidly. What with the exponential increase in the volume of data to be handled by applications, the proliferation of portable devices that are fast replacing the PC or laptop browser as client for your application, the growing importance of Application Programming Interface, globalized teams, and so on.
Given the urgency conveyed by the title “Modernize or Die”, you would expect the podcast to touch on some cutting-edge business relevant to the CFML community. You would, in any case, expect the discussion to be terse and to-the-point. For example, that the podcast would spotlight some modern challenges:
- in CFML
- in programming and software engineering as a whole
What does the podcast offer instead?
No challenges.
No urgency.
No do-or-die.
No forecasts.
Instead, the podcast comes over as a meandering, laid-back chat between two dudes reminiscing at a bar.
