We are excited to announce that we will soon open up the pre-release for the next major version of ColdFusion. To express interest in this pre-release, please fill up this survey
The next version of ColdFusion is a game changing release for ColdFusion with significant focus on modernization of the platform, cloud integration and support for microservice architectures.
Here is the vision statement for ColdFusion next:
“To be the modernized platform of choice for building cloud-native microservice applications with absolute focus on ease of use without getting locked to a particular cloud vendor (multi-cloud).”
While the vision statement may look too broad now, you will get a good sense of how all these pieces fit in once you join the pre-release and hear from Adobe. For more information about what’s coming up, you may also look the slide deck from my presentation at CFSummit 2019 at Las Vegas.

Dick, this post is from 2019. It WAS for the prerelease of CF2021. š
As for why they ādonāt just say thatā in the post above, it’s that they never announce the name of the version until it is releasedāyes, literally even āColdFusion 2021āāor as they refer to them formally, āColdFusion (2021 Release)ā.
And FWIW, with this blog platform, if someone were to edit the post to clarify that, it would now be marked as a new post and people would think this WAS a new announcement for the next prerelease.
To be clear, we have every reason to expect a new version after CF2021 (they have referred to their plans for it)ābut no reason to expect to know when it or the prerelease will be, until itās announced. š And that will be in another post entirely.
I guess my previous reply was a TLDR for you. š I’ll repeat my last paragraph:
To be clear, we have every reason to expect a new version after CF2021 (they have referred to their plans for it)ābut [we have] no reason to expect to know when it or the prerelease will be, until itās announced. š And that will be in another post entirely.
