Can’t activate cf2023 when upgrading fromcf2016
Had a coldfusion 2016 on a server that we are replacing. On the new server we have installed coldfusion 2023 upgrade license and entered the license key which validated. The problem is the old confusion 2016 license key will not validate. There is no deactivate option in cf 2016. I uninstalled Coldfusion 2016 on the soon to be decommissioned server and shutdown the whole server hoping the Coldfusion Licensing Gods would see it as deactivated.
Did I miss something?
The upgrade license (50% off full price) is only for use with the immediately preceding version, so that would be cf2021 (not 2018 or 2016, etc). You may be able to return that upgrade license to Adobe or whoever you bought it from. You can’t use a cf2023 upgrade license without a cf2021 license serial number.
And normally you’d have no choice but to pay full price for 2023.
But here’s good news: for just several more days, you can at least buy cf2023 for 25% off. That’s a deal offered only through the reseller, Intergral, who are the folks behind FusionReactor. See my post on this here:

Also, Adobe will be releasing cf2025 any day, week, or month now. When they do, you will ONLY be able to buy cf2025. They normally STOP selling the current version when a new one comes out.
