Dwngrade 2018
Hi!
When purchasing the ColdFusion 2021 version, is it possible to downgrade to the 2018 version?
I would buy it if this is possible, and that the Key can be enabled for ColdFusion 2018, this is being requested by the developer.
I’d appreciate your help
Javiera, while we await perhaps a more authoritative answer from Adobe, I will say that from my experience and resources available, the answer is a qualified yes. For more, see:
- note the last point in the first list, about your needing to have bought it via a “volume licensing program”, which is not the same as buying it from the main CF web site
- https://coldfusion.adobe.com/2016/03/adobe-coldfusion-backward-licensing/
- and see comments there, from myself and others, including how Adobe confirmed that if you buy the license from a reseller, like the folks who sell FusionReactor, at buy-adobe-software.com
- https://www.carehart.org/blog/client/index.cfm/2020/11/23/cf2016_support_ends_feb_2021
- a post where I discussed these kind of things relative to those needing to get off of CF2016, whose support ended last month
Hope that helps.
Hi,
It is certainly possible to get the CF2018 as a backward license. I would request you to not buy CF2021 from http://www.adobe.com else it will not be eligible for downgrade. You can send an email to cf.install@adobe.com and we will help you with that. Post-purchase, our team will help you with the CF2018 license.

Priyank and I were writing at the same time. Priyank, I think it could be helpful if you’d revise your current sentence: “I would request you to not buy CF2021 from http://www.adobe.com else it will not be eligible for downgrade.” to make your points more clear to a reader who may not notice the key words.
Can you highlight the words NOT, and perhaps revise it as: “I would recommend you to NOT buy CF2021 from http://www.adobe.com because that will NOT be eligible for downgrade.”
Of course, folks can see my reply here if you do not revise it, but sometime people don’t see “replies” as readily as a comment, because they have to click a button to see such a reply to a comment.
