ColdFusion Builder 3 automatic updates notification and installation
(11)

With ColdFusion Builder 3 we have implemented automatic updates feature to be in-line with Eclipse update mechanism.

In case of ColdFusion Builder 3 standalone installation:-

With this, if there is any update to ColdFusion Builder 3, you will receive a notification at the bottom right corner of Builder. You can click on that and install the updates.

With this mechanism only the changed plugins are pulled and installed on top of your Builder installation.

And this is always a cumulative update .i.e Latest update contains all the previous updates as well.

If you have just closed the notification without installing the update you can install by clicking on Help –> Check for Updates label.

In case of Plugin installation to Eclipse:-

Since the Eclipse is your own copy, you have to do a one-time setup to get notifications and install it.

Open “Window -> Preferences -> Install/Update” and configure the updater options as follows.

Click on “Automatic Updates” -> Select “Automatically find updates and notify me”

Click on “Enable Software Sites” -> Enable the site http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/coldfusion/cfb3pluginsrepo/ . This site is already listed. You just have to enable it.

Refer to the enclosed figures for these settings.

Once this is done on every next restart of Eclipse, updates availability is checked and notified at the bottom right corner.

By clicking on that notification message you can you can install the update.

I downloaded the cf builder3 and when the 60 days were over I purchased the license. The installer asks me to enter the previous serial number. Can you help me find it

Krishna,

I forgot to mention – this was a “fresh” install of CFB3, Update 1. I have never used the updater prior to this – I installed the updated binaries instead when the first update came out.

Krishna,

Thank you for your help! I did indeed have both URLs in the update list. Should I file a bug report to have the extra one removed?

Lieth,
The trailing slash was not a problem in my case. It works fine with or without it for me. The only issue was that I had both update urls in the list.

Here’s the issue. This is the URL that shipped with the copy I downloaded;

http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/coldfusion/cfb3standalonerepo

Here’s the URL you gave me;

http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/coldfusion/cfb3standalonerepo/

That “/” missing at the end is breaking the ability to download. Just adding that fixed it.

Can you please check how many ColdFusion sites listed under “Help->Install New SoftWare-> Available Softwares…”?

If you have standalone installation, enable only the following URL and disable any other ColdFusion site if it is listed there.
http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/coldfusion/cfb3standalonerepo/

If you have plugins installation, enable only the following URL and disable any other ColdFusion site if it is listed there.
http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/coldfusion/cfb3pluginsrepo/

After this restart ColdFusion Builder and try installing now.
If it doesn’t help you can uninstall, download the latest installer from Adobe’s site and install it.
And then try installing the update

Thanks,
Krishna

@Kannan that URL will it’s an update site and only Eclipse update it self will know what to do with it.

This is the same for most Update Sites by large corporations how do update sites for Eclipse.

Please follow the insructions and add the site URL in to the Help > Install Software > Add Site box and away you go.

All of our development is done off line and we cannot connect to the internet to automatically download this update. Where can the stand-alone it be downloaded so I can move it to our development network?
